College and High School Applications

The admissions process is often viewed as a high stakes application, but I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be so daunting. Yes, the application process is stressful, but it is also a moment when students can find a deeper sense of self and a place where they can grow into their passions and future. While there is a drive to complete pieces within a certain timeframe, I help to promote a hands-on, low stakes approach in order to ensure that your writer is able to find their voice while removing the stress that can come along with it.

Through personalized guidance to help you articulate your unique story and strengths, writers will benefit from targeted feedback and strategic insights designed to improve clarity, coherence, and overall impact. Let me assist you in presenting your best self and securing your place at your dream institution. Whether you’re brainstorming ideas or refining a completed draft, we will focus on crafting compelling narratives that resonate with admissions committees.

My college essayists have been accepted into colleges, whether this was Early Decision or Early Action, such as Bard, Barnard, Boston, Brown, Bryn Mawr, Bucknell, Columbia, Colorado College, Cornell, Fordham, Harvard, Kenyon, LeMoyne, Loyola, New School, NYU, Northwestern, Oberlin, Pace, Skidmore, Stanford, numerous SUNY, Swarthmore, Temple University, Tufts, Smith, all University of California campuses, University of Chicago, University of Maryland, University of Minnesota, UPenn, Washington University, Yale, and many, many more!

Creative Writing

Creative writing workshops are multi-genre workshops that focus on deepening a writer's ability to craft complex and engaging pieces within a non-censored safe environment. Writers will set and achieve weekly and trimester-long goals, explore different genres and find the one that best suits their voice, while building a community with their peers. These genres can include fiction, playwriting, personal essay/memoir, and poetry to name a few. Writers may discover they adore syntax while working with poetry, scene building and tension with playwriting, and even description through fiction and world-building. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out, this workshop offers a supportive environment to develop your voice, share your work, and receive constructive feedback.

More Services

  • Memoir and Personal Essay

Memoir is based on memory, a crossroads between fact and fiction/truth. This genre pushes us to deeply examine ourselves and our experiences, weaving narratives that explore the past through the lens of the present. How do we examine the past? Can we trust our memory? What is emotional truth? In this workshop, writers will explore intersections of their own memories and truths. They’ll also explore methods for archiving experiences, establishing a recognizable narrative voice, and creating a compelling personal story. This is a wonderful genre to explore to better prepare for high school and college applications, submission and letters to agents, as well as simply writing to better understand yourself.

  • Submission Preparation

Submission Preparation private sessions and workshops provide targeted, expert support for teens preparing critical application materials. Unlike the Senior Portfolio, which is all about curating and refining your full body of work, these sessions focus on perfecting individual submissions to make sure each one stands out in its own right. Whether it is the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, YoungArts, NYTimes, summer residences, scholarships, or other submission opportunities, writers will prepare, develop and revise pieces that best showcase their extensive knowledge and skills in their craft. Be ready to meet deadlines and submit with confidence!

  • Senior Portfolio

Senior Portfolio is designed for high school seniors who wish to develop a thoughtful, well-rounded writing portfolio. Unlike a submission-focused session, Senior Portfolio emphasizes the intentional curation and refinement of your work. Through personalized feedback and targeted exercises, you’ll learn how to showcase your unique writing style, improve your pieces, and create a cohesive narrative that highlights your strengths. Whether you're preparing for college admissions or future career opportunities, this workshop will help you build a portfolio that stands out for its depth, clarity, and sophistication.
