Hi, I’m Michaela!

Writing has been a lifelong passion that I have been lucky to share with many students of all ages. Currently, I work with writers to develop pieces that they are proud of while simultaneously lowering the pressure of the process.

Writers under my tutelage have won numerous competitions and awards such as YoungArts, NYTimes Short Memoir competition, NYTimes Learning Network Contest, as well as acceptance into various summer residences. They have also won the most prestigious regional and national recognition at the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards including Gold Key Senior Portfolio, American Voices, New York Life Award, and more. I have received the “Teacher Excellence” award from Scholastic since 2016 as well as  for my writers’ national recognition.

It has been my joy to help writers find their voice. Let me help you find yours.

My Approach

My mission is to connect writers of all ages and identities with their own imaginative and creative capacities, and with other writers. I work with writers to identify their individual writing goals, to develop and fine-tune their written work, to expand their literary engagement, and to hone their critical thinking skills. Everyone has a unique story to tell, and I am dedicated to providing a supportive environment where writers can explore their imagination, express themselves freely, and transform their ideas and experiences into impactful narratives and stories. Writing is not an entirely solitary act. We write for, about, and in response to, our communities. Writers will find their creativity and confidence and opportunities for community through comprehensive workshops and personalized mentorship.

Everyone can write. Everyone has potential — let’s find it together.
